Lab Testing

Lab Testing

A variety of conventional and functional lab testing options are available to help get to the root cause of your symptoms. When indicated, testing can help to diagnose, monitor and discover more about the causes of illness.

Treating the root cause

Serum testing options

  • Routine blood tests such as cholesterol, liver function, iron, vitamin B12, vitamin D, thyroid, blood sugar etc.
  • Serum hormone panels
  • Autoimmune, metabolic and inflammatory markers

Functional testing options

  • Gut health - IgG food sensitivity testing, SIBO, Comprehensive stool analysis, GI Map etc.
  • Hormone health - urine metabolite testing (DUTCH), salivary cortisol testing

Why I use testing

Testing provides objective information

I will always use your symptoms to guide diagnosis and treatment, but in some cases testing can help us confirm and/or rule out underlying causes.

Testing helps target your treatment plan

Sometimes symptoms can present due to multiple underlying factors. In these cases, it is often more time and cost effective to use testing to direct your treatment plan.

Testing can help monitor your progress

Obviously symptom improvement is a great indicator of your treatment plan working well, but in some cases "seeing the numbers" is also important to monitor dosing of supplementation or prescriptions.

Testing for health optimization and prevention

If you feel good and have no health concerns, that's great! I still encourage my patients to check-in for some yearly blood work to ensure nutrient levels and metabolic markers are optimal.
